Handrails for Mezzanine Flooring

Edge protection is required on all exposed edges on mezzanine floors for safety purposes. New Age Storage Systems Ltd offer functional and attractive edge protection options appropriate to each project.

Standard industrial handrail

This unique edge-protection system provides a functional and neat solution that integrates both the handrail and toe plate into the handrail post. The rails, posts and toe plates are powder coated to give a highly durable finish with excellent gloss retention. We also provide mesh panels to prevent small items from falling.

Feature handrail

Made in mild steel with a powder coated finish or stainless steel, these highly attractive handrails are ideally suited to retail and office environments, or any environment where a modern and aesthetically pleasing look is required.

Pallet Gates for Mezzanine Flooring

Designed to protect personnel at exposed opening points at the floor edge, safety gates can have a light-weight, fail-safe roll-over operation or be of the sliding ‘trombone’ type. They can accommodate standard sized pallets and require virtually no maintenance.

The gates are powder coated to give a highly durable finish with excellent gloss retention.

Decking for Mezzanine Floors

Hi-Level provides a variety of decking options. The standard 38mm high density particle board is offered with optional moisture resistant properties, wear resistance and non-slip surface, and Class 0 spread of flame to the underside.

Other materials include hot-rolled Durbar floor plate and Forge-welded gratings. Examples of Hi-Level’s mezzanine decking options are shown below.

With T&G profiles along two long edges the P6 board is suitable for most storage applications.

Durbar Plate

Durbar is hot-rolled structural steel floor plate that has an evenly distributed, raised pattern which is integral to the product.

Forge-Welded Gratings

This type of decking is suitable for plant platforms and gangways.

Staircases for Mezzanine Flooring

Hi-Level designs appropriate staircases for each project. A specialist in feature staircases, we offer a wide range of colours to ensure that your new mezzanine reflects your corporate colour scheme. All our staircases are powder coated to give a highly durable finish with excellent gloss retention.

We can also provide advice regarding relevant Building Regulations. For example, recently introduced legislation, requires that at least one Ambulant Disabled Staircase (ADS) complying with Approved Document M of the Building Regulations should be fitted to mezzanine floors used for storage and that, in addition, a lift should be provided for office use.

Our Approved Inspector can advise you on the Building Regulations and show those instances where a simpler Type K staircase may be an acceptable alternative, or situations where a single ADS may alleviate the need for a lift.
